The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campuscommunity linkage. The college has been extremely active in organizing various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities under the supervision of Programme Officer Prof. Prosenjit Mukherjee for the college students to promote feelings of social and national commitment among them. It is only the NSS activities which can lead young students to become more meaningful and fruitful to the society which is in extended sense, encompasses the entire humanity. More than hundreds of volunteers as well as the dedicated teachers form the college are always active and sincerely busy in inculcating the basic principles and programmes of NSS like Environment Enrichment and Conservation, Social Service, Health Check-up and Awareness Programmes, Spread of Child and Adult Education, Women's Development and Gender Justice, Relief and Rehabilitation, Family Welfare and Nutrition, Socio-Economic Surveys, Observance of Various International and National Days/Weeks like National Youth Day, World Health Day, NSS Day, World Human Rights Day etc. We have been proud enough to announce that we are among the twenty colleges of West Bengal which had participated in the Workshop on Digital India organised by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India on 25.02.2016.
